Get to Work. The four top spots for remote work in Barrie. Pssstt..... innspace made the list! Woman writing at desk looking out the window.

The concept of working from home may seem like living the dream, but working from home isn’t right for everyone all the time. It can be lonely. And some people find it hard to focus because of the nearby pile of laundry, dirty dishes or book they’ve been hooked on.

Even if you love working from home, you might want a change of scenery from time to time. Changing your work location can fuel your creativity, help you form new connections, or provide the chance for uninterrupted focus on a critical task.

But where to go? Here’s a list of the best places in Barrie to go to get some work done.

Top four remote work spots in Barrie

Common Good Cafe & Social House

85 Bayfield Street, Ground Level

This spot opened in late 2018 and WOW. It’s everything Barrie never knew it needed. Chic decor, fantastic coffee and lovely staff make this a spot that’s perfect for dropping in and having a snack with friends or to settle in for an afternoon of crossing t’s and dotting i’s.

Common Good has free, reliable wifi. A high-top communal table and ample bar seating are best for those looking to stay awhile with their laptop. If you need silence to ‘get into the zone’, this isn’t the spot for you. Common Good has quite a following and a busy lunch rush.

Just remember, if you’re hanging out at a cafe to work, you might want to purchase more than a cup of coffee.

Barrie Public Library

Downtown Branch: 60 Worsley Street

If you’re on a tight budget or just like taking advantage of the services your tax dollars pay for, the Barrie Public Library (BPL) is totally free and conducive to getting work done. Free wifi and every resource you could ever need/want? What more could you ask for?

The downtown branch was recently renovated and has lots of natural light. There are many spaces to hide away in the stacks and focus on your to-do list. If you don’t already have a library card, we highly recommend it. The BPL has tons of online learning courses and resources that cover everything from practical skills like how to use the Adobe Design Suite to business and management courses.

Another hot tip: The City of Barrie offers free wifi at City Hall, Five Points Theatre and East Bayfield, Holly and Allandale Recreation Centres.  You’re welcome 😉

[inn]space, Barrie

30 Quarry Ridge Road

[inn]space might be the office space you’ve always dreamed of. You’ll enjoy a beautiful modern design, lots of natural light, top-notch snacks and amenities, and reliable wifi. Whether you’re looking for a coworking space to use a few days a week, an executive office or a boardroom to host those crucial client meetings, we’ve got all of that and more.

We also offer virtual office solutions like a physical mailing address and package acceptance, call answering and messaging services if you want to keep your primary office space at your home.

The best part? Our services can grow and shrink as you need them to. You’re never locked into just one service in just one way.

Bohemia, Barrie

125 Dunlop Street East

If focused creativity is what you’re seeking, Bohemia might be the spot for you. They don’t have wifi, so you don’t need to worry about digital distraction as you get to work on that project you’ve been putting off for ages.

While it has a pretty steady crowd and amazing food, Bohemia somehow always seems hushed and calm, with lots of corners to tuck yourself away in. The tables on the second level have one of the best views of Kempenfelt Bay and the staff are so kind and helpful, you could stay for the whole day working and snacking on scones and lattes.

Next time you need a break from your home office, or if you’re looking for a more permanent workspace, we hope this list is helpful.
